Specialist Personnel

Prior to joining Bonhams & Goodman, Tory was the Senior Book Specialist at Lawson's Auctioneers in Sydney for 17 years. In the 1990s Tory gained qualificationsin book binding and conservation. Over the years Tory has sold large collections of books for and to public institutions and managed the sale of significant private libraries. Tory is now managing the Books, Maps and Manuscripts department for Bay East Auctions.

Anne Phillips has a highly academic background in literature and Japanese studies. Her qualifications include a Master of Arts, a First Class Honours Degree and a Bachelor of Arts. Prior to working for Bonhams & Goodman Anne held established positions as a lecturer, translator and editorial assistant. Her skills in the areas of research, academic writing, editing and critical analysis are widely acknowledged.

During her five years at Bonhams & Goodman, Anne furthered her knowledge in Australian, International and Aboriginal Art and became a Senior Specialist in 2007. Anne has a wealth of experience in the auction industry having headed the Aboriginal Art Department and the Bay East Art Department, in addition to becoming one of the company's auctioneers. Often considered a project manager, Anne has handled the consignment of many large collections from corporations and private estates. Anne has now been appointed Head of Art under the new brand of Bay East Auctions.

Alec was educated in England and America and started his career in advertising. He moved to Australia in 1964 and commenced a career working with books in 1970, operating The Rocks Bookshop in Sydney for 15 years. Alec's interest in books spans some 70 years- he became interested in books as a youth as his family had a large collection which was subsequently sold. He has been consulting to Tim Goodman for 30 years and will continue to assist Tory Page with appraising and cataloguing books and manuscripts under the Bay East Auctions brand.
